Like
the pastry, the brioche stitch creates a light, airy and puffy stitch. This is a gorgeous and squishy texture perfect for garments, like the Toasty Tunisian Brioche Scarf.

Brioche in Tunisian Crochet looks almost identical to knitted brioche but the technique is different. Two stitches and a one row repeat are used to create this texture, making it an almost mindless project to crochet. I love listening to my favorite music while working on projects like this one and they seem to fly off of my hook.

After making my scarf, I decided to take a stroll around my hometown for this photo shoot. I live in a fairly small town and I live within walking distance to the shops.

My favorites are the coffee shop (for hot chocolate and chai tea lattes) and the wine shop, but I love window shopping after the stores are closed too.

THE YARN

As soon as I saw Universal Yarn Major in Silver Blush, I knew that I wanted to crochet a brioche scarf with it and it was perfect. Major is a 5 Bulky weight yarn and it is super squishy, soft and lightweight making the Toasty Tunisian Brioche Scarf both warm, and super lightweight which makes it very cozy and fun to wear. The hues and color changes in Silver Blush are subtle and pretty neutral colors that will go with all of my fall and winter outfits.

THE HOOK

This pattern does require a tunisian crochet hook. I used my Furls 12" Cruella Deville Tunisian Hook in Size K 6.5 mm but a hook with a cord or a metal long hook will also work.

THE STITCH

The Brioche Stitch uses the tunisian simple stitch and the tunisian twisted simple stitch. The tunisian twisted simple stitch is a variation on the tunisian simple stitch. It sounds difficult but after some practice, this stitch becomes just as easy as other stitches. These two stitches are used in a one row repeat to create this beautiful texture.

How To Work Into The Last Stitch Of The Row:

1. Tilt the work toward you and look for the last 2 vertical bars at the end of the row. (image 1)
