Tunisian Crochet Woven Cable Tutorial and Pattern

Hello! Today I have another new tutorial to add to my Tunisian Crochet Cable Series! The Tunisian Crochet Woven Cable creates a gorgeous texture that can be used for hats, cowls, blankets and more! Scroll down for the video tutorial and the written instructions.

The Tunisian Crochet Woven Cable creates a thick and dense fabric but the thickness can be altered by changing the yarn weight and or the hook size too.

YARN USED

I decided to use Deluxe Bulky Superwash for this tutorial because I wanted to use a bulky weight yarn to highlight the woven cables. I love the color of this yarn and the stitch definition it created with this cable pattern.

Disclaimer: Universal Yarn sent the yarn support for this series. There may be affiliate links in this post. This means that if a purchase is made through my link, I will get a small percentage but the price does not change for the customer.

Notes and Other Tutorials

  • This pattern can be worked with a regular hook that has no handle.
  • Do not turn your work at the beginning of each row. This pattern is worked from right to left (forward pass) and then left to right (return pass).
  • The first loop on the hook counts as a tunisian knit stitch throughout this pattern.
  • The cable stitch holder can be replaced by another crochet hook. Use one that is either the same size as the main hook or a size as close as possible.
  • Other weight yarns can be used for this pattern but it will vary in size.
  • Use this pattern to add extra detail on headbands, beanies, cowls, scarves and more.

To create different looks with this pattern:

  • Change the yarn weight and use a suitable size hook.
  • Change the number of the beginning chain by using a multiple of 4+2.

How To Work Into The Last Stitch Of The Row:

The end stitch counts as a tunisian knit stitch.

1. Tilt the work toward you and look for the last 2 vertical bars at the end of the row. (image 1)
2. Insert the hook under these last 2 vertical bars. (image 2)
3. Yarn over, (image 3)
4. and pull up a loop. (image 4)
