Hello! It's the beginning of November and that means it's going to start getting really cold where I live and so I thought I would share something that is super snuggly, cuddly, cozy and warm. The Tunisian Fade Shawl is a collaboration with Clover USA and I'm so excited to be a guest designer on their blog again! The Tunisian Fade Shawl, with it's simple knit stitch and easy color changes, is a wonderful project for any skill level of crocheter. Scroll down for the free pattern and the free pdf link too!
If you follow me on my instagram or facebook, you may know that I lost my granny, my wonder woman, to cancer very recently. This project sat waiting patiently for me while I sat with her in her final days and moments. Afterwards, this project was mindless enough for me to sit and crochet while watching movies to help cope with the grief and sadness of losing such a sweet and special person in my life. The soft dreamy yarn with my wooden clover Tunisian crochet hook, the ease of this pattern and the Tunisian knit stitch was very soothing and meditative for me.
I designed this pattern with Mary Maxim Mellowspun DK yarn and I absolutely love how soft, squishy and beautiful this yarn is. This yarn and the stitch I used, created the most squishiest, lightweight fabric with amazing drape and the length and width of this shawl only adds to the coziness. The light grey and the hot pink work really well together for the simple color changing stripes and I love the faded look it creates.
I used my Clover Interchangeable Tunisian crochet hook with a cord and stopper. I love this hook set and how easy it is to switch out the cords and I love all of the options of lengths that it has too. I picked a cord that was long enough for my project but not too long to be a bother. The smoothness and light weight of these hooks make them super easy and fun to crochet with, for me.
The Tunisian knit stitch is a super simple and fun stitch to crochet and I love the knitted looking texture that it creates. With a size K 6.5 mm hook and DK weight yarn, the stitches look plump and so beautiful, plus the shawl is very lightweight and just all around comfy to wear. I love wearing mine either like a regular shawl and I also love wearing it as a super thick scarf too.

Notes, Tips and Tutorials
- This pattern is worked best with at least a 12 inch Tunisian crochet hook.
- This pattern is worked flat with the right side of the work facing.
- At the beginning of each row, the first stitch is on the hook and counts as a Tunisian knit stitch.
- Do not turn your work at the beginning of each row. Each row is worked from right to left (forward pass) and then from left to right (return pass).
- There is a gauge for this shawl but there are also helpful measurements throughout the pattern.
- Do not forget to carry the unused yarn up, between rows, when needed.
- Size can be adjusted by adding as many more stitches as you need for the correct width and less or more rows for a shorter or longer shawl.

Bind Off:

My fringe is 6 inches long and it fixed the curl at the ends so I did not have to block mine.
