Red Nose Reindeer Square And Blanket Pattern!


Hello! It's that wonderful time of year, Christmastime! I wanted a new Christmas blanket for my couch and I think I came up with the cutest blanket ever! This blanket is fun to make and I think the pom pom noses make this blanket super cute too! Scroll down for the free video tutorial and free pattern.








Red Nose Reindeer Square And Blanket



US Terminology
Size

I used 12 squares to make my blanket and it turned out 28 inches wide and 34 inches long. You can use more or less squares to make your blanket.

Materials

- Size H (5.00 mm) crochet hook 
- Medium 4 Yarn in tan, red, brown, white, and black: 
Caron Simply Soft in White (2 skeins)
Caron Simply Soft in Bone (2 skeins)
Caron Simply Soft in Harvest Red (1 skein)
Caron Simply Soft in Chocolate (1 skein)
Caron Simply Soft in Black (1 skein)
- Scissors
- Darning Needle
- Pom Pom Maker

Abbreviations and Tips

ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
tc: triple crochet
2dc: double crochet increase
2sc: single crochet increase


THE PATTERN

with tan:
R1: Make a loose slip knot and ch 2 (does not count as a dc) Put 14 dc into the loose slip knot, sl st to the first stitch of the round. =14
Pull on the tail end to close the hole.

R2: ch 2, 2dc into the same stitch and in each stitch around. Sl st to the 1s stitch of the round. =28

R3: ch 2, 2dc into the same stitch , dc into the next stitch. *2dc into the next stitch, dc into the next stitch. Repeat from the star around and sl st to the 1st stitch of the round. =42

R4: ch 2, 2dc into the same stitch , dc into the next 2 stitches. *2dc into the next stitch, dc into the next 2 stitches. Repeat from the star around and cc to white in the last stitch. sl st to the 1st stitch of the round. =56

R5: ch 1, sc into the same stitch, sc into the next 4 stitches, hdc into the next stitch, dc into the next stitch, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next stitch, hdc into the next stitch, sc into the next 9 stitches, hdc into the next stitch, dc and cc to tan into the next stitch , 3 tc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc into the next stitch , hdc and cc to brown into the next stitch, sc and cc to white, sc into the next 7 stitches and cc to brown, sc and cc to white into the next stitch, hdc into the next stitch, dc and cc to tan into the next stitch, 3 tc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc into the next stitch, hdc into the next stitch, sc into the next 9 stitches, hdc into the next stitch, dc into the next stitch, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next stitch, hdc into the next stitch, sc into the next 4 stitches. sl to the 1st stitch of the round. =64

R6: ch 2, dc into the same stitch, dc into the next 7 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next 14 stitches and cc to tan, dc into the next stitch, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc into the next 2 stitches and cc to brown, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc into the next 7 stitches and cc to brown, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc into the next 2 stitches and cc to tan, dc into the next stitch, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc into the next 14 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next 7 stitches, and sl st to the 1st stitch of the round. =72

R7: ch 2, dc into the same stitch, dc into the next 8 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next 17 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next 3 stitches and cc to brown, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc and cc to brown into the next stitch, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc next 5 stitches and cc to brown, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc and cc to brown into the next stitch, dc and cc to white into the next stitch, dc into the next 3 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next 17 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch, dc into the next 8 stitches. sl st to the 1st stitch of the round. =80

R8: ch 2, dc into the same stitch, dc into the next 9 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch, *dc into the next 19 stitches, 3 tc into the next stitch. Repeat from the star 2 more times. dc into the next 9 stitches. Sl st to the 1st stitch of the round. =88

R9: ch 1, sc into the same stitch, sc into the next 10 stitches, 2sc, ch 1, 2sc into the next stitch, *sc into the next 21 stitches, 2sc, ch 1, 2sc into the next stitch. Repeat from the star 2 more times. sc into the next 10 stitches. Sl st to the 1st stitch of the round or make an invisible join. =104
Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.

The Nose

Make a small pom pom about blank inches after trimming. Sew to the middle of the square.

The Eyes

Use a small amount of black yarn to stitch the eyes on.

Attaching The Squares

Attach the squares with red yarn using the whip stitch. If you need help, check out my video tutorial.
Attach the squares horizontally and then vertically before adding a border.



Sew squares 1 and 2 together horizontally.
 Next, lay squares 3 and 4 next to 1 and 2 and sew them horizontally.
 Next lay squares 5 and 6 next to 3 and 4 and sew them horizontally.
 Next, lay out squares 7, 8, and 9 and sew them horizontally to squares 2, 4 and 6.
 Next, lay out squares 10, 11 and 12 and sew them horizontally to squares 7, 8 and 9.
 Now sew vertically.



The Border

with red:
R1: Insert the hook near a corner but not in a corner and pull up a loop. ch 2, dc into the same stitch, dc across till you get to the ch 1 in the corner. Put a dc, ch 1, dc into the ch 1 in the corner. Continue crocheting around till you get to the ch 1 in the corners. Put a dc, ch 1, dc into all the corners, in the ch 1. Sl st to the 1st stitch of the round.

R2: ch 1, sc into the same stitch, sc across till you get to the ch 1 in the corner. Put 2sc, ch 1, 2sc into the ch 1 in the corner. Continue crocheting around till you get to the ch 1 in the corners. Put 2sc, ch 1, 2sc into all the corners, in the ch 1. Sl st to the 1st stitch of the round or make an invisible join.
