Sweet Cake Shawl Free Pattern

Hello! Lately I have had an obsession with two things: triangle shawls and cake yarn...this obsession has been fun and I am loving so many of the cake yarns so far. I love how they change colors and I love all of the color ways. It's so much fun to play around with these yarn and while I was playing around one afternoon, I came up with this quick, simple and easy pattern. Since then, I have tested it with a Caron Cake, a Premiere Sweet Roll and a Bernat Pop and I think this pattern works wonderfully with all 3 of these yarns! I love this pattern so much and I hope ya'll do too! Scroll down for the free pattern, The Sweet Cake Shawl.

The Caron Cake is no doubt my favorite to use for the Sweet Cake Shawl and it is absolutely gorgeous and huge. The finished measurements were 56 inches at the widest point and 31 inches from the center to the point and I did have some yarn left over. The left over yarn could be used for tassels and I think that would look awesome too but I haven't gotten around to making and adding tassels to mine. If you do, please share!

It can be worn as a cowl and this is my favorite way to wear it. I wore mine this morning and it was so soft, cozy and beautiful.

Or it can also be worn as a shawl and this way is so pretty too!

The Bernat Pop was a lot of fun to work with and it is a very squishy yarn. It has less yardage than the Caron Cake and the finished measurements were 44 inches at the widest point and 23 inches from the center to the point. It could have been larger but I wanted my last row to be one solid color and not have a color change in it, so I did have some yarn left over.

The Sweet Cake also turned out beautifully! The finished measurements were the same as the Bernat Pop version and I had hardly any yarn left over with the Sweet Roll. I love the color changes that all 3 of these yarns make and they are so much fun to work with!

The Sweet Cake Shawl is now featured on favecrafts.com!

and it made #4 on the top 100 list for 2019 on Favecrafts!

Notes

For this pattern, with the cake yarns, I let the yarn colors flow naturally out of the cake. I do not cut and separate the colors.

When the pattern says to put a dc into the top of the ch 3, put the dc into the space between the ch 3 and the last stitch.
