A Heart For Valentine's Day! Free Crochet Pattern!

Valentine's Day is coming up and I thought that it would be fun to share a video tutorial on how to crochet a heart. These simple 1 row hearts can be used for tons of present ideas for your special someone on this sweet holiday. They could be used as a decorative little embellishment on a present, crochet a lot of them and hang them above the dinner table and cook a special dinner, they can be tied to wine glasses, left for strangers to find in public places, and the list goes on...

Crochet Heart


US Terminology


Materials


- Yarn
- Crochet hook
- Scissors
- Darning needle


Size


The size of the heart depends on what size crochet hook and what kind of yarn you use. Play around with different size hooks and different yarn until you get the size heart that you would like.

Abbreviations

ch: chain
dc: double crochet
hdc: half double crochet
tc: triple crochet
sl st: slip stitch

The Pattern

R1: Create a loose slip knot and ch 1. Put all stitches into the loose slip knot: 3 dc, 3 hdc, 1 tc, 3 hdc, 3 dc, and sl st into the loose slip knot. =13
Pull on the tail end of the yarn to close the hole in the center of the heart.
Cut the yarn and weave in the ends if you would like.
